Degody militia movements have been seen around Malka Mari area. It is believed
that they are preparing to wage war against the Gharri people. Subsequently, the
two Grisa location Gharri chiefs have been threaten by the Degody Thugs.
According to an eyewitness report from Rhamo, El Wak District, a threatening
note was delivered to those two chiefs by Degody donkey herders and it tells the
two chiefs to leave Grisa within two weeks or to say goodbye to their families
and friends.
Our
reporter stated that the Degody politicians have been running a rhetoric of
waging war against the Gharri people in order to blackmail the Kenyan government
for quit sometimes saying that they will wage war to take the portions of the El
Wak District from the Gharri people if the Government fails to grant them on its
own. But, now, it appears that they
are ready to carryout their threats. Their militias have been seen around Malka
Mari, and surrounding areas in large numbers. So, both the Kenyan Government and
Ethiopian authorities have been notified.
Also,
the El Wak District Commissioner Mr. Ole Pialal has called in all 32 chiefs and
dios to appear in to El Wak on July 04, 2007, but not one Degody chief came yet
as of today July 06, 2007. So, it is believed that they are on preparation to
wage war or to cause disturbances by collaborating with anti peace elements.
Therefore, the concerned authorities have been informed.
